Skills Academy chair Tony Vine-Lott made the announcement at an event in London’s Docklands to mark the Skills Academy’s first full year of operations. The event was attended by Skills Minister David Lammy MP and employers who had the opportunity to meet some of the Skills Academy’s successful students.
The new employer and regulator representatives are:
- Margaret Cole, Director of Enforcement, FSA
- Mark Collender, Head of Sales Lloyds TSB
- Peter Denheen, Head of People & Brand, Royal Liver Group
- Gary Kildare, Vice President of Human Resources, IBM
- Clive Leach, YFM Group (Chair of Yorkshire & Humber Regional Board)
- Antony Whitehouse, Head of Compliance, Calyon
- John Woods, Moneyfacts (Chair of East of England Regional Board)
- Max Wright, CEO, EMXCo.
Making the announcement, Tony Vine-Lott said:
“The Skills Academy is led by employers and I am pleased to announce further employer involvement through our National Board. Strong governance is an important feature of the Skills Academy, and in addition to the national board, all our regions will have regional employer boards influencing and shaping the development of the Skills Academy both in their own region and nationally.”
In its first full academic year, nearly 3000 students have successfully enrolled on courses delivered through National Skills Academy providers to a wide range of learners, including: young people starting out on a career in financial services; apprentices; careers changers; returners to work; and current financial services employees.
As well as employer and regulator representatives, including the seven chairs of the regional skills academy boards, the National Board will include further stakeholder representatives, the Skills Academy’s National Director Sylvia Perrins and the Chief Executive of the Financial Services Skills Council, Teresa Sayers.
