13 May 2008: The National Skills Academy for Financial Services has today (13 May 2008) revealed the employer and regulator representatives who will form its first national board.
Skills Academy chair Tony Vine-Lott made the announcement at an event in London’s Docklands to mark the Skills Academy’s first full year of operations. The event was attended by Skills Minister David Lammy MP and employers who had the opportunity to meet some of the Skills Academy’s successful students.
The new employer and regulator representatives are:
Making the announcement, Tony Vine-Lott said:
“The Skills Academy is led by employers and I am pleased to announce further employer involvement through our National Board. Strong governance is an important feature of the Skills Academy, and in addition to the national board, all our regions will have regional employer boards influencing and shaping the development of the Skills Academy both in their own region and nationally.”
In its first full academic year, nearly 3000 students have successfully enrolled on courses delivered through National Skills Academy providers to a wide range of learners, including: young people starting out on a career in financial services; apprentices; careers changers; returners to work; and current financial services employees.
As well as employer and regulator representatives, including the seven chairs of the regional skills academy boards, the National Board will include further stakeholder representatives, the Skills Academy’s National Director Sylvia Perrins and the Chief Executive of the Financial Services Skills Council, Teresa Sayers.
